The Principality of Zeon is at war with the Earth Federation. On September 18, 0079, Zeon Commander Lieutenant Char Aznable leads a raid on the space colony of Side 7. There, he discovers the Earth Federation’s new weapon, the RX-78-2 Gundam, abandoned. He then decides to steal it for himself, setting off a domino effect that changes history as we know it forever. Five years later, in the independent colony of Side 6, a young Newtype girl finds herself on the hunt for the missing RX-78-2 Gundam. Before long, events conspire to put her in the pilot’s seat of the new prototype Gundam GQuuuuuuX and enter an underground mobile suit fighting competition. Surrounded by new friends, she struggles to understand her strange abilities and find her place in the world, dreaming of a sky where she can fly freely.
